Our Philosophy
At Harris Heritage Dachshunds, our first priority is always the welfare of our puppies. We carefully screen every prospective family and provide extensive support to ensure successful placements. However, we understand that circumstances can change, and we have clear policies in place to protect both our puppies and our families.
Lifetime Commitment
72-Hour Return Window
After receiving your puppy, you have 72 hours to have them examined by a licensed veterinarian. If a significant health issue is identified during this initial exam that was not disclosed at the time of sale:
- You may return the puppy for a full refund of the purchase price (excluding the deposit and shipping fees)
- Or you may keep the puppy and we will contribute toward veterinary treatment costs, up to the purchase price of the puppy
- A replacement puppy of equal value from a current or future litter may be offered as an alternative
Important
The 72-hour veterinary exam is required to maintain your health guarantee. Failure to have your puppy examined within this window may void certain protections.
Genetic Health Guarantee Returns
Our 2-year genetic health guarantee covers hereditary and congenital conditions. If a life-threatening genetic condition is diagnosed by a licensed veterinarian within 2 years of purchase:
- A replacement puppy of equal value will be provided from a current or future litter
- Veterinary documentation confirming the genetic condition is required
- The original puppy does not need to be returned
- Refunds are not offered under the genetic guarantee; replacements only
Voluntary Returns
If you need to rehome your Dachshund for personal reasons unrelated to health:
Within 14 Days
The puppy may be returned in good health for a refund of the purchase price minus the $200 deposit and any shipping fees. The puppy must be returned in the same health condition as when received.
After 14 Days
We will assist with rehoming your Dachshund. No refund is available, but we will work to find a suitable new home. We ask that you never surrender your puppy to a shelter or rescue without contacting us first.
What Is Not Eligible for Return or Refund
- Health conditions resulting from neglect, abuse, accident, or failure to provide proper veterinary care
- Common illnesses such as parasites, kennel cough, or allergies acquired after purchase
- Behavioral issues that can be addressed through training
- Puppies that have been bred without written authorization from Harris Heritage Dachshunds
- Shipping fees are non-refundable under all circumstances
- The $200 deposit is non-refundable under all circumstances

Provide Documentation
Submit any relevant veterinary records, photos, or documentation to support a health-related return claim.
Arrange Return
If a return is approved, we will coordinate safe transport of the puppy back to us. Return shipping costs are the responsibility of the buyer.
Resolution
Depending on the situation, we will process a refund, provide a replacement puppy, or assist with rehoming as outlined in our policies above.
