Health Guarantee Coverage
What Is Included
- Veterinary Health Certificate: Each puppy receives a thorough examination by a licensed veterinarian before going to their new home.
- Vaccination Records: Complete documentation of all vaccinations administered, including DHPP and Bordetella.
- Deworming Schedule: Puppies are dewormed on a regular schedule starting at 2 weeks of age.
- Microchip: Each puppy is microchipped for permanent identification and safety.
- AKC Registration: Full AKC registration papers included with every puppy.
- Health Records: Detailed medical history from birth to adoption.
Genetic Health Screening
Miniature Dachshunds are wonderful companions, but like all breeds, they can be predisposed to certain health conditions. We take proactive steps to minimize these risks through responsible breeding practices.
IVDD Awareness
Intervertebral Disc Disease is a concern in Dachshunds due to their elongated spine. Our breeding program prioritizes dogs with sound structural health to reduce IVDD risk. We provide guidance on proper handling, exercise, and weight management to help prevent spinal issues.
PRA Screening
Progressive Retinal Atrophy is an inherited eye condition. Our breeding dogs are tested for PRA to ensure we are not passing on this genetic condition. Clear test results are maintained for all parent dogs.
Lafora Disease
This neurological condition can affect Miniature Dachshunds. We DNA test our breeding stock for Lafora Disease to ensure affected puppies are not produced.
Heart & Joint Health
Our parent dogs receive cardiac evaluations and patella checks. We breed for overall structural soundness to produce puppies with the best foundation for a long, healthy life.
Guarantee Terms

Initial Health Period
You have 72 hours from the date of pickup or delivery to have your puppy examined by a licensed veterinarian. If a significant health issue is found, we will work with you to resolve it, including offering a replacement puppy if necessary.

Genetic Guarantee
Our 2-year genetic health guarantee covers hereditary and congenital defects confirmed by a veterinarian. If a life-threatening genetic condition is diagnosed within 2 years, we will provide a replacement puppy of equal value.

Requirements
To maintain the health guarantee, the puppy must receive regular veterinary care, be kept on a proper diet, and not be bred without prior written consent from Harris Heritage Dachshunds.

What Is Not Covered
The guarantee does not cover conditions resulting from neglect, abuse, accident, improper nutrition, or failure to provide timely veterinary care. Common illnesses such as parasites, infections, or allergies acquired after purchase are not covered.
